How to access CSNSW in Microsoft Teams

 

There are four main steps to access CSNSW in Microsoft Teams, however next steps will depend on the current state of the user’s account.

 

1. Sign in to Microsoft Teams

2. Authenticate your access through your organization

3. Which one to use, desktop app or web app?

4. CSNSW multifactor authentication

1. Sign in to Microsoft Teams

Open your web browser and go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-teams/log-in.

Select the Sign-in button.

Examples of web browsers are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.

2. Authenticate your access through your organization

a. If your web browser is not logged in to your school/diocese account

It will take you to the Microsoft sign-in page. Enter your school/diocese email address and then select Next.

The email address should be the same as the email address added in Teams by CSNSW.

You will be prompted that it will take you to your school/diocese organization page.

Log in to your organization page and follow the prompts. After successful login, it will prompt you which one to use, the desktop app or web app?

b. If your browser is logged in to your school/diocese account

It will take you to the Microsoft sign-in page. Enter your school/diocese email address and then select Next.

The email address should be the same as the email address added in Teams by CSNSW.

It will take you to another page, and it will prompt you which one to use, the desktop app or web app?

c. If you have a non-school/diocese email account (for example, personal email)

It will take you to the Microsoft sign-in page. Enter your school/diocese email address and then select Next.

Select the link (in blue text) Sign in with the one-off code sent to your email address.

Enter the code that was sent to your email, then select Sign-in.

It will take you to your email provider sign-in page to authenticate your access. Log in and follow the prompts. After successful login, it will let you into Microsoft Teams.

3. Which one to use, desktop app or web app?

a. For beginners

Select “Use the web app instead“. It means you will be accessing Microsoft Teams through your web browser.

It will take you to another page to proceed with CSNSW multifactor authentication.

 

b. For advanced users

  • If you have Microsoft Teams already installed on your computer, select Open the site via Microsoft Teams.

  • If you would like to install Microsoft Team on your computer, select Download the Windows app. It will download the installer to your computer, and you can install it after the download.

In Microsoft Teams, select your profile in the top right corner of the page and then select “Catholic Schools NSW (Guest)“. It will take you to another page to proceed with CSNSW multifactor authentication.

4. CSNSW Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

  • To set up MFA, you will be prompted that CSNSW requires more information.

Select Next and fill up the form as follows.

Enter your mobile phone and select one of the available methods for verification.

Microsoft will ask for your mobile number, then send you an SMS message containing a 6-digit code or call you to verify your device.

You will be logged in to CSNSW Teams when your identity has been confirmed.

 

  • If you have already set up CSNSW MFA via phone, you will be prompted to verify your identity. Follows the prompts and you will be logged in to CSNSW Teams when your identity has been confirmed.
