Issue: Resetting a Password for the DoE Portal

If a user cannot log into https://extranet.det.nsw.edu.au and their account is active in SMU, they may need a password reset.

  • Principals can reset passwords for any staff member whose account is already linked to their school.

  • Diocesan Officers can reset passwords for any staff member whose account is already linked to their Diocese.

If an account is not linked to that location, please contact appsupport@csnsw.catholic.edu.au and they will reset the password and update the location.

Resolution:

  1. Superusers (Principals/Diocesan Officers) will need to access SMU from the main landing page of the Extranet Portal (via https://sso.det.nsw.edu.au/)

2. Select [Staff Management] on the left hand side of the screen.

3. Select [Reset Password] from the left-hand menu. Insert the user’s name into the search fields. Make sure the location selected is your school.

4. Click on the user’s User Id. In cases where duplicate accounts exist, select the most recent (the highest number).

5. Type in a new password, confirm new password and click [Reset Password] button.

6. Click [Check Password Sync] to confirm success. It is safe to ignore the FIBWIN failure as this only applies to NSW DoE accounts. Sometimes a teacher’s account will register a failure at DETNSW. In these cases the user’s access has expired and will need to be extended.
