Issue: Delegating authorisation to another superuser at a location

It is a policy of Catholic Schools NSW, that a limit of two superusers (the Principal and Assistant Principal)
are to be present at a school at any one time. All changes to superuser status at any Catholic School must be carried out by appsupport@csnsw.catholic.edu.au and schools may not change superuser statuses themselves.

The principal of a school is the main superuser at that location. They are able to add users to the staff list. It is strongly recommended that NSW Independent schools and ACT schools do not have more than two superusers at any one time. Other users at a school, a principal may wish to have superuser status, could be a deputy/assistant principal or school administrative manager.

The Principal is responsible for maintaining any additional superuser’s account access. This involves extending the superuser’s expiry date and removing authorisation if that superuser leaves the location.

A superuser can only provision others if they have:

  • Access to SMU

  • Access to AMU

Resolution: Giving a second superuser access to SMU

Catholic school Principals must appoint a second superuser through AMU.

1. Access AMU via the landing page on the Extranet Portal (https://sso.det.nsw.edu.au/).

2. Select [Home] from the menu on the left hand side of the screen.

3. Make sure the location selected is your location.

4. Select “SMU – Staff Management Utility” under the heading “Select required application to give users access to use this application”. Then click [next].

4. For the selected authoriser tick the boxes in the “Non-Gov Staff Admin” and “Administrator” columns.
